Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Engineering Manager to lead and grow the Engineering Unit operating in the MedTech domain and specialized in the development of hardware/software solutions and medical devices

If you have at least 5 years of experience in the MedTech industry and are ready to lead high-performing engineering teams while driving the development of innovative solutions and medical devices, we want to hear from you.

About the Role

The Engineering Manager is responsible for building and managing a technically excellent team, overseeing resource allocation and capacity planning, and driving the execution of projects from pre-sale through delivery. He/she works closely with Business Development, Sales, and other Engineering Units to define technical offerings, estimate costs, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • People management, objective setting, and career development for engineers and technical leaders within your unit;
  • Project supervision and escalation management, with regular alignment with Project Managers and Product Specialists;
  • Active involvement in pre-sales activities, including technical proposals and client prospecting;
  • Competency development planning in alignment with business strategy and HR;
  • Budget ownership for your Engineering Unit perimeter and participating in the definition of the annual business planning.

Financial management:

  • Managing the P&L of the engineering unit;
  • Providing advanced P&L analysis, identifying potential issues and developing action plans to optimize costs.

Human resources management and recruitment:

  • Participating in recruitment activities (sourcing, interviewing, reporting, contract signing, etc.);
  • Defining and monitoring the career development of the team (role allocation, assessment, key people engagement, etc.);
  • Managing and balancing the workload of the team.

Preferred qualification

  • An Engineering degree is preferred, with experience in a similar role in managing projects and business within life science sector

Required Skills

  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit, proactivity, outstanding communication skills, natural leadership, team working, empathy;
  • Experience gained in an engineering consulting firm is nice to have;
  • Appropriate knowledge and experience of hardware, firmware and software development, and of regulatory framework related to medical devices;
  • An ideal previous career should have started with a role as a hw/fw/sw developer, then grown into a technical team management role, and included experience in the certification process of medical devices.
